This project seeks to engage with the surrounding context in form and colour. Set on a tiered hill, surrounded by undulating bushland, distant views to vineyards and western port bay, the house is anchored at the top. It then flies off towards the view, appearing like it is floating over an embankment of grasses. Super truss “v” supports (over scaled grasses) have been used to support the cantilevered building form. They are coloured in a series of green. The colours of the building are influenced by the changing nature of the Red Hill property through the seasons. The dry summer conditions are reflected in the colour of the main building form; earthy, sand tones whilst highlighted with a series of accent vivid greens. They reference the glowing natural surrounds during the wetter winter months, when the bushland and foliage are flourishing. Black detailing is used for window frames to help frame the property’s view lines from internally.

"Set on a tiered hill, surrounded by undulating bushland, distant views to vineyards and the bay, the design of this home makes ‘innovative use of the site’, describe the judges. This home is completed to a ‘very high standard of workmanship with an effective yet dynamic design', commented the judges. ‘With its interesting façade, this home is both internally and externally appealing"
